First 1-2 Threads Should Be Exposed. With the threads facing toward you, the tape should be applied in a clockwise direction. With threads facing away from you, tape should be applied in a counter-clockwise direction. This will ensure the proper direction and that the tape will not loosen when threads are being tightened. Apply 1-1/2 to 2 turns of tape, making sure to leave first 1-2 threads bare, as not to accidentally introduce tape particles into your flow path.
